Booking
Lessons are booked on a monthly block basis, and are payable in advance before the lesson. The teacher reserves the right to cancel lessons that have not been paid for in advance, at their discretion.
Payments
Payments can be made in person with
cash, or via bank transfer or Paypal using the “Goods &
Services” option.
Payment must be made in advance.
Cancellation/Rescheduling Policy
Cancellation by the student
If you need to change your lesson time, please get in touch as soon
as possible via text or email. If you cancel your lesson at least 24
hours before your lesson is scheduled to begin, you will be offered a
make-up session (within seven days, this may result in two lessons in
one week or a two hour lesson) or the payment will be transferred to
your next session. Any cancellations after this are
not eligible for a refund and will count as
a completed lesson.
Situations such as
emergencies, bereavements and serious illness will be discussed on an
individual basis.
Termination Policy
In the event that you require to move on or terminate lessons - a one-block notice period applies. This allows your teacher to wrap up your lessons in a cohesive way and more easily fill the space you leave.
Sickness
If
you are sick 24 hours before your lesson; please
cancel or reschedule your lesson. Aside from
spreading the illness to your teacher and other students, it is best
for you to rest.
If you are a singing student with a sore
throat, Benton Music recommends vocal rest and hydration until you
feel comfortable.
If you end up feeling better in time for
your lesson, you can then contact your teacher to re-book.
This will help to avoid being out of pocket for lessons not
received.
If you do not show up for your lesson or you
cancel within 24 hours of the lesson, lesson
fees will still apply.
If you
wake up on the day of your lesson showing symptoms of illness but you
are still able to have a lesson, please contact your
teacher to arrange an online lesson as soon as possible, if
possible.
Benton Music strives
to offer flexible options in this scenario because it is not
your choice to be sick!
This policy in place also allows your
teacher the option to fill lesson spots from their waiting list, in
order to be able to keep Benton Music running year after year.
Cancellation by the Teacher
Lessons cancelled/rescheduled by the teacher will be re-arranged at a time mutual to both parties. Benton Music will endeavour to give as much notice as possible in the event this occurs.
Refunds
Benton Music will not offer a refund on any lessons, including those cancelled or missed by the student. Rescheduled lessons on behalf of the student or teacher will remain at the length of time and price originally booked.
Attendance
Lesson time will not be made up if
you are late, and your lesson will end at the scheduled time. If you
miss your lesson slot completely, your lesson fee will still apply
and only rescheduled if it is within the week your lesson was due.
If the teacher is running late, you will receive your full
lesson time. Parents/guardians are welcome to sit in with minors
under the age of 16, or if deemed necessary by the teacher.
Running Time
Teaching will end approximately 5 minutes before time to allow for questions.
Block Bookings
Block bookings are made on a monthly
basis of either 4 or 5 lessons, month-dependent (e.g. if a month has
5 Tuesdays and your lesson is on a Tuesday, this would be a 5-week
block).
Lessons paid for in a block or as a package will be
considered expired if not used within the time limit specified at the
time of payment. Monthly blocks are valid for 3 months.
Larger
block bookings such as termly bookings (12 weeks) may be available
with discount: please message to discuss.
Exceptional Circumstances
The teacher reserves the right to refuse to teach any student that is contagiously ill, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or exhibiting violent behaviour.
The teacher reserves the right to stop a lesson at any point should they feel it is necessary. In the event this happens during a period of recovering from an illness, the remaining portion of the lesson will be rescheduled at a time suitable for both parties.
The teacher reserves the right to
refuse or discontinue lessons with any student for any reason at
their discretion.
Performances,
Examinations and Competitions
All
students and parents of students are responsible for travel to and
from performance/examination venues, and minors must be accompanied
by a parent/guardian at all times.
Students or parents of
students are liable for examination fees/competition entry fees, and
once again, minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian where
appropriate.
Rights and Discretion
Benton Music holds the rights and discretion to change or amend any of the above Terms and Conditions if deemed necessary or unavoidable.
